JavaBlade Editor

MAC USERS REJOICE!! We are very happy to announce that a third party Java based editor for the Switchblade line is now available.  Third party Java developer Lars Barstad has done a remarkable job in creating this very versatile editor that can be used both on MAC and PC computers to create presets on your Switchblade.  JavaBlade has many of the features of the PC based WinBlade editor and some exciting additional features.  Just look at this feature set!

  • Create presets using an icon based point & click worksurface

  • Set all preset parameters as well as most global parameters from the editor

  • Set and use all Smart Insert functions

  • Create icons for devices not connected to the Switchblade to create schematics of the entire rack system

  • Upload and Download all preset as well as global settings

  • Simplified file system insures foolproof operation

  • Smooth intelligent visual operation for fast, fun performance

  • Checked and endorsed by Sound Sculpture

The JavaBlade editor can only be used with the Switchblade GL, Switchblade 8B, and Switchblade 8 models with firmware revision 6.34 or higher.  An upgrade kit is available for all 3 models from our Web Shop if you are running an earlier revision.  To download this incredible tool for your Switchblade, please follow the link below:

IMPORTANT NOTE:  JavaBlade was NOT developed by Sound Sculpture and we are simply hosting the program on our web site.  The program is no longer being revised and no further updates will be available (at this time).  You will likely not find any major bugs in it, HOWEVER, some USB-MIDI interfaces will not work with JavaBlade and if JavaBlade does not seem to communicate with your Switchblade, this is the likely reason.  Please experiment with various USB-MIDI interfaces (the cheap simple kind work well) to find the one that works with your computer.   DO NOT use JavaBlade if you are not willing to experiment in this way.  We apologize for this unfortunate deficiency in the program (and in Java) but we feel having a Java editor is better than not having a Java editor, so enjoy!  We will try and compile a list of good interfaces that work for other users and post them here soon.
